Although I am from Indiana I really enjoy reading your forums Question recently purchased 96 Evinrude 50hp installed a st of muffs so I could winterize why is the idle speed a lot higher on muffs than when it is the water scary

Are you sure the RPM's are higher? The motor will make a lot more noise when out of the water (with muffs at same RPM) because the water acts as a muffler.
