Subject:   New engine - Old gas?

I stepped up and bought a 50hp Honda 4 stroke to replace my old Evinrude O/B on my pontoon. Now I have an 18 gal tank full of gas mixed with oil and wondering if I just waste it or if I dare run it thru the new engine. Anybody have advice for me on this?

Dude!!! No, burn some weeds or give it to the friend you don't like to run in his 2 stroke.

If you must run it Cat or myself will be happy to rebuild you carbs for you,

Seriously. A new tank and some new gas is in order here.
And not the cheep stuff! Go for the 98!

Yea, we are racing from his house at Trillion to my house at River North and back to his house.

Just do tell him:

- I know all the short cuts and
- He will have to stop to refuel based on my calculations

As heads up his E-tec with eat my Yamaha, so I have to gain some type of competative advantage or not tell him out the rock pile up around Youngs Island - LOL.

Well now that you tipped you hat, He will just carry extra gas.
Cat needs to hook you up with some supper conductor pontoons he's been working on in the back room.

.........some cats in the bag, if you know what I mean.

I have not given away all my secrets just a few here and there to get jlazc thinking. And the other things he needs to check is:

- Make sure there is not a ski rope entangled in his prop
- Make sure he is not pulling an anchor behind his boat
- Make sure he unties all the ropes, even the hidden ones from his dock.
- Make sure his prop lock nut is secure, would hate to see him spin a prop.

Did not get some son certified in scuba diving for nothing or ever said I play fair, have to figure out someway to level the playing field as he would not agree to add 175 pounds of extra weight to offset the weight diff in engines - LOL.

By the time he gets through checking all the above I will be half way to River North - LOL.

THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS USE THAT MIXTURE IN YOUR HONDA. Your Honda is a 4 stroke and you DO NOT mix the gas with oil in a 4 stroke. It is like a car. You have oil in the motor and you just use gas with no oil mixture. You need to check the oil dipstick and may need an oil change. You can find a manual online at Honda's website. Good luck as Honda is a good engine.
