When did Tournament fishermen start keeping fish ?
I was told that in the Auburn bassmaster tournament this past week they keep the fish!

Give it a break Pal.. If private bass clubs want to fish the lake, and take a few home for dinner or the freezer, I say "have at it it.." Plenty of fish, and I'm ready to restock my freezer with crappie.. As a full time lake resident, I think conservation is cool, but let's not get stupid..

I'm a full time resident too. In this tournament, some individuals
took home over 20 bass. If everyone did this, do you not think it would hurt the fishing in this lake ? I have no problem keeping fish, but don't go overboard. Thanks and enjoy your fishing.

I think the daily limit for a licensed fisherman is 10 black bass (largemouth or spots) per day.. The limit is set by fish experts, including biologists. If they are taking out more than the limit, than they are illegal and probably screwing up the ecology. If not, they are fine with me, assuming they are taking the fish home and feeding families and friends..

I am with the Auburn Bassmaster and fished that tournament. Whe do on occassion keep a few bass if someone ask to keep a few for a fish fry or some other social function. Not all the fish caught in the tournament were kept. I know me and my partner let our fish go and serveral other members did also. By no meens did anyone keeps more than the legal limit. We follow all the size limits and creel limits. The were more than 10 boats in this tournament with 2 people fishing from a boat, if only 20 bass were kept, that would be well below the legal limit. We have a five fish limit per person for weigh in. so no one would have above the legal limit.
