Any word on where the stripers have been hanging out? Also, has anyone seen the hybrid run in any of the creeks yet? Probably still too cold...

I don't know much about Lake Martin but I didn't think there were any hybrids stocked in the lake??

It is my understanding that the State stopped stocking Martin with hybrids years ago. They believed that there would be more forage for the striped bass that way. Most folks believe that it was a good move. Striper numbers are reported as being improved since that time.

I think that he is talking about White Bass. I don't know if they are running, but I would like to find out!

I would like to know too. My Son & Grandson are coming to the lake to go fishing this weekend. I would like to put them on anything. I have a boat and can fish just about any way we need too. Any ideas on how to put them on some fish...any kind:)? Could be shell crackers, crappie, bass, cat fish, white bass.....very flexible. Would appreciate some help...thx.

Barney,

You might want to talk to Wes Wood (Striper Nut) about a charter. Wes is very realiable when it comes to putting big stripes on the deck. There is an article about him in this month's AON magazine. You can view it on line.
He's darn good.

Take em crappie fishing. Look for them around piers, stumps, brush or timber or troll till you find them. Use minnows or jigs. You can find all the info on how to do it on the internet. The grandson will enjoy filling the boat with fish.

Only fill the boat if you plan on eating them. Otherwise, teach the grandsons catch and release. Remember to buy a fishing license. Have fun and let us know the results.
