Stuck Live Well Plug

I tried to remove the drain plug from one of the live wells on the boat. The metal turns and water will slowly come out. However, I can't remove the plug. I have not tried a pliers just by hand. Any suggestions?

What kind of plug is it?
Brass Threaded, Plastic Fold clip, Cork Stopper?

If you mess up the plug, a tampon works just fine for a replacement. Seriously! ;)

When you open the URL below, it is the type at the top they reference as twist type. It is identical. I assume the rubber is stuck...the boat has been stored inside at a marina on a rack and the heat amy have dried them out. There are 3 stuck. 2 I can reach from the outside. Thanks.

I am not trying to save the plugs. Even when I try to tighten them they just go round and round inside.

Know what the problem is -- They are Democrat plugs as they just go around and around - Could not resist.
Anyway to just drill them out. Would think you could break off the ends then drill out the middle of the plug. Grab with vise grips and pull it out.

Just for *its and giggles try spraying a liberal dose of WD-40 on it as you rock it back and forth with some pliers or vice grips.
Oh, did I say liberal....it was unintended but in any case you shouldn't have any trouble cwith that part of the suggestion...:>)

I've got one stuck in my bilge drain hole under the outdrive also. I'll either vice-grip it or drill it out. Regardless, WOULD there be a PROBLEM with coating the hole with motor oil or WD-40 before using the new plug?? Looks like a brass lining on the hole. I really do not want to sink my boat because of a $2.00 part.

NO,,, No problem with WD40.....
I like some Armor-all my self but the fact is... yes, keep it soft.
Another thing? Why is every one leaving the plugs in over the winter???? It's A huge NO NO.....

Only thing I'd be willing to bet on is the liberal part....:>)

I agree with NCII. I always pull all drainage plugs for the winter...I also pull them every time I take the boat out.
