Alright Spring is here today gone tomorrow and back by the weekend........ my ADD is acting up horribly and I am hungry. So every year we get to talking about places to eat on the water accesible by boat.

I know of Pier 59 and CLear Creek but I want to know what is new or now closed on the water. I would like to know of a place to eat breakfast on the water besides Clear Creek...

I understand Rabbit Branch now has a place called Mikes Steaks...... does anyone have any info on this?

Everyone wake up and lets get ready for a great summer............

Mikes Steaks was very tasty. The night we went, the deck was not open yet and it ws too cool anyway. I'll go back once the deck opens. Inside was way too loud. They really need to invest in some acoustical tiles or something. A party of 8 with a few beers makes it impossible to carry on a conversation.

But on the up side. The steak was as good as I have ever had in any establishment. My wife had the surf and turf (grilled shrimp) and I got a bite of 1 shrimp luckly. It was tasty as well. The service was very acceptable and the price was reasonable for a lake place. $45 for 2 meals and 2 or 3 drinks.

I have heard that they are planning live music once the deck opens and I think that happens April 22 if I remember.

Peace,
<><

Sorry...busy week ya know.

Yes, you can get to Mikes by boat. I am not sure whose pier thy are using. Might be the marinas but I was told you can boat there.

The little place at Poor House Branch was not open very often when I went last year but I heard rumor it was going to be open again on weekends this year. They did some awesome baby backs and burgers. I've also heard Poor House is under new management? Anybody?

I had heard the guy that used to run Pell City Powersports was running it now. I'm sorry the name ttally escapes me right now. I've never met him face to face but talked to him on the phone a couple of times and he was very helpful and honest. Allen maybe?

I hope it's better. Remember my fuel experience last year? They have a big hole to get out of with me if they want my business.

I'll do a little digging later and see what I can find.

When I first bought my boat I met Alan Manor at Lakeside boating or whatever it was called because they were the only Supra dealer in town. At the last years boat show I saw Alan but he was at Poor House so I took my boat up there. I have not called to see if he is still there but will in a few minutes because i was planning on goin up there next week.

Thats the name. Sorry I couldn't remember it. Like I said. Spoke to him on the phone a couple of times. Hard to get on the phone, but I was very impressed. Hope to meet him sometime. Let us know what the deal is when you can please.

Mike is the owner of poor house marina. I went there last week end and the food shack was open and they said that they would be there all summer. I also left my pontoon boat there for some work
they do good work and you won't have to wait 6 weeks like at allens place in riverside even thou allen has been fair to

Mike Morris owns Poor House at least he did as late as last week. He was trying to sell it last year but for now he is still there.

Correct, Mike owns Poor House & Allen runs it, They had good hamburgers last year but were only open a few weeks. I kept my boat there last year & the service was outstanding. I saw Mike's Steaks, I will have to try it. What kind of food does Odd & even (I think) next to Fat Man's BBQ have?

Even Odds was a pretty fun place to hang out and the food was vey good. Since they have come under new management sometime last year I am not sure. We try and stay on or near the water and just could not make it up there last year.

They had shrimp steaks burgers chicken fingers and misc bar and grill food.

entertainment was always good too but I heard he is gone now....

I ate at Mike's Steaks Friday night, I had the filet mignon because ribeye usually has too much fat on it, the steak was excellent, you could cut it with a fork

Mike
