The story is at the URL above.

I get asked a lot on guide trips about what the Lake Martin record stripe is. I don't have an answer. I know Jim Parramore had a client that put a 48 pounder on the boat August before last - is that the lake record? Does anyone know?

Tight Lines!

I thought the lake record is the state record of 55 lbs. The state record was caught in the Tallapossa and I think it is considered Lake Martin for record keeping purposes.

Bass, Striped 55 lbs, 1955, Tallapoosa River, Charles Totty / Tallassee

I knew about the state record above, but I've always heard it was caught in the river below the dam at Tallassee.

The only lake record that I can find is for a 2-11 Redeye Bass. For Redeyes, that is a monster.

The lake record on Martin is 52.5 that was caught on a trotline. The state record was not caught in Lake Martin but in Tallassee in the Tallapoosa River. I have 5 fish over 40 pounds that either I or clients of mine have caught out of Lake Martin and we released 3 of them so there is not telling how big they are now!

I always thought to be an official record it had to be rod n reel.
There I go thinking.
