Today marked the first time I have had my boat in the water with intent to leave it in for the season.

I have been a "marina stored" boat owner for 5 years and now with the new cabin on Allatoona I have entered a new phase.

I have an inflatable boat lift that I need to get in the water and adjust before inflating.

With or without the lift, what are things to do/worry about for good healthy boat.

I covered it (won't be up there all week) but the prop is in the water, is that a no-no?

Help me ( obi-wan?) - any advice is appreciated.

If you plan to leave it in the water for the season, As far as the hull goes, Get some bottom paint on it or lift and wash it off often. Below is a link about fiberglass.

you will probably be fine with the lift. I had mine in a slip last summer and now I have gelcoat blisters on my hull. Didn't know til I took it out for winter. I should have invested in the lift. I have been told to watch the blisters this summer to see if more appear. If so, I may have a costly repair ahead of me. But wow is it convenient keeping it in a slip!!!

Scottc, let us know if there is any way we can help you out on the blisters.

now I'm more paranoid than ever, lol

The lift I have is an Air-Dock, have read some user reviews on it and use of it. Need to read up on the manufacturer instructions and get using it.

While up on the air-dock (or not) how loose or tight should the tie-offs be to the dock?

This is my first time owning a dock, have always driven up on the trailer that the marina brought to me on the ramp, lol.

I've got it tied up to 3 cleats right now, to the left from middle of the boat, diagonally to the front right from middle next to driver on boat and to back right from back right on boat.

I left a little play in in all three. The boat is in a roof covered middle slip on the dock in a no-wake cove. Some wake still gets in but overall not much.

I have always turned off the battery shut-off when done with the boat, should I leave it on and turn the bilge pumps to "auto"?

Starting to have bad thoughts/dreams about the situation, as a first time dock owner I thought it would all be perfect...

I think your fine witht the air lift. I was not familiar with those when I had a slip. Are they substantially cheaper than a electric lift? I always tied off on all corners and left some play in each tie, but made sure it would never hit the dock at any point. That appeared to me what the others around me were doing as well.

Just from what I have read they are cheaper than electrical lifts. Because mine came with the house/dock when I bought it I don't know exactly what it cost but have seen references online to ~ $3k for what I have.

I have fenders inside the slip on both sides so hopefully any play I leave in the ropes will be protected by the fenders.
