Do you recommend using one of the "additives" on the market with residual gas from last year?

Should I just add new gas in or try to burn down the old first before filling up?

I'm sitting on ~ a quarter tank right now

Did you stabilize the old gas from last year? If the answer is no, I would get it out of the tank. I would not try to add fresh and it may be to late to add any additives.

It could be ok, but why risk it?
Always air on the side of caution.

If you did stabilize it last fall, you should be OK to add fresh and enjoy.
