Just in case you did not get this post below because of the thread getting too long. >>>>>

Let me first say, the information below is based on a Merc MEFI ECU system (I believe yours will operate the same, not positive though. Most EFI systems operate similar). Your injectors may "Batch" fire! Meaning, 3 at the time (V-6 engine or 1/2 of the cylinders at the time). This would mean if you have an "open" or any circuit operating outside of normal parameters or ranges you loose 1/2 or your total # of cylinders. If indeed your fuel system is "sequential" (I hope I used the right word) the injector circuit should be "open" all the time, and "pulse" with a ground circuit! In otherwords, the HOT wire to the injector will be hot all the time to ALL the injectors, and each injector will pulse/fire from a mili-second ground pulse derived from throttle position and engine rpm. If your injector is stuck open from trash, or debris indeed you may have a bad injector (but not likely) signal. The best way to test this is to use "noid" lights and verify EXACTLY how your fuel delivery system works. Then simply take an ohm meter and get an ohm reading on each injector, WITHOUT THE WIRES PLUGGED INTO THE INJECTOR. Write the ohm reading down as it reads per cylinder. If you do indeed have a bad or malfunctioning injector it WILL show up with this test. If you have a signal problem from the system I will have to test that for you as you are not likely to have the resources available to do so. Please don't go buy an injector and throw at the problem unless you check to see first. Sorry for long post! What does it matter that someone working on the boat is sympathetic to your situation? Stop throwing money at the boat. Find out what is wrong with it and fix it. I'd be pissed if I were you. My .02 worth. If you want me to walk you through test call me. I'll help you.

GF, that's some funny chit right there. Sorry, I got carried away with my comment at the end. But he's paid for a starter and lots of other parts. (900 bucks worth) He still can't use his boat! One would think the problem would be diagnosed and corrected from the beginning. NOT replacing parts that are broken, or seem to be anyway, without finding out why those parts broke to begin with!!!!!! I mean, really! Think about it for a minute.

CAT, check out the URL below. One would think all these print outs would pinpoint the problem(s).

PS How the chickens and ducks doing??

Hey guys thanks so much. I still intend to send the engine report to you, just not being a slave to the internet and the broke down boat. Heck the weather is to nice. The link that was provided is very good, I didn't find it the other day when i searched. The page has been accessed 20,000 + times. I wonder if all the people that were accessing it were having problems or just curious about definintions from engine reports. I can sho tell you this whole ordeal has taken the wind out my sails for my 4 day weekend. I did talk to the owner of Bucks island and he may be able to send someone out monday. It only seems like the right thing to do. three of us sat on it the other night and listened to the ipod.

Let me just say again I really appreciate the people who have responded, guess I'm proud I aint got pissed yet over the whole ordeal. I may give you a call this afternoon after i have emailed you the engine report to see if it told anything that i missed, and possibly troubleshoot the problem myself. aight going to read over your advice again and get familiar with what you said to do so i want be in the dark later if we talk.

Whew, what a long weekend looking down at the pier only to see the pontoon all clean and tied to the pier. Fugured just for laughs and giggles I'd try to start it again. The dern thing reluctantly cranked. got it to the boat ramp and now its on the trailer. This opens up better options for being able to work on it. Just waiting for Tony and the guys at Bucks Island to get to work in the morning, and see what they decide to do.

The right thing to do after 7 months in the shop is come to me.
