Wondered about forum member's views of liability only insurance on your boat? I know that the City of Auburn, Alabama, with hundreds of autos and trucks, drops all insurance except liability on vehicles when they reach seven years of age. This is an important benchmark you might consider about your older vehicles.

Wonder if this might apply to boats as well?

Shocked at liability only cost on personal watercraft. I am older than some states.

If you carry liability only, would you share your insurance provider's name?

I carry full coverage on my boats through Progressive. Premium was very reasonable, so didn't even get a quote on liability only.

Both USBoat and Progressive offer liability only coverage for boats. Also, check with your Homeowners company as see if they hava a rider to extend the liability portion to cover your boat.

USAA stopped doing boats, so I switched to Progressive when I got the new toon. I checked BoatsUS and a few others, but progressive beat everyone by a significant margin. I also checked liability only on the waverunners, but it made very little difference. I went with $1000 deductible on everything, and the premium is very reasonable...Previously I was paying almost as much for the waverunners as I'm now paying for the new toon, the ski/wake boat, and the waverunners combined.

My SeaDoo liability is a rider on homeowners and it's only about $60/yr for same coverage as home. Collision is shown on separate policy with other boats. Insurance is Auto Owners.
