I am replacing the transom on a 1984 bass boat that has a brand new 115 hp Optimax Mercury. The boat was rated for 115 hp Max when it was new. The new engine is very heavy and I was wondering if anyone knows what a 1984 115 hp would weigh. If the hp rating change that took place years ago that increased the size of engines was done after 1984 I think this boat would not be rated for a present day 115 hp.

If you have any information on this it would be appreciated.

Check this site. Someone asked the same question and the response from info in the 1984 manual was an inline 6 cylinder 115 weighs 290 lbs but they did not know if that includes the trim.

Also, check this site as they rebuild them and show the weight of a 1987 as 348 lbs. Give them a call and I bet they can help you.

Thanks GF, I did some searching also on Google and found about the same as you did, 1984 @ 290 & 2010 @ 375.
After talking to the owner of the boat he has agreed to let me replace the floor and transom so I could transfer some of the load thru the stringers and floor. He had someone replace the floor and transom last year and all of it was already rotten from poor quality work and lack of glass.
Thanks again,
Houseboat
