What city or Dollar General are you saying this butcher shop is located close to?

pell city on 231, you turn left onto cropwell dr. from 231-dollar general would be about 100 yards on the left at that intersection, the butcher block is down on the right about 100 yards. does all that make sense

Already in Auburn. Fantastic! Store is a little big for me but so far it looks like its cleaning Kroger's clock. One reason Publix is so popular is their personnel.

Agree on the personnel. They actually demand courteous, dedicated employees, and they pay them well for it. And, and, they fire them if they slip into a "Walmart" mode.

How is it possible that it can be too big? Hopefully it is because there are so many items to choose from... At this point, I would love a grocery store that was "too big".

We had a chain in the Mid-Atlantic called Wegmans. Huge, but they had every possible thing you could want, and some that you didn't even know you wanted. Better than Trader Joes and Whole Foods combined.

"too big" has never been in my vocabulary for a store! I'm sometimes amazed at what a well stocked small store can have available, but more is better when it comes to choice.

Hey bite me wise a--, by the way good info but, what I wanted to know was if Publix had fresh ginger and Asian Fish Sauce for a new baby back rib receipe I'm gonna try. And, about the site you posted..............took me a long time to view all of the menu.................lol.

Ahem! Size is not everything. From my experience Publix uses less shelf space per item but has lots of personnel restocking all the time. I just don't like those stores that are so big that when you missed an item you have to pack a lunch to go back for it. And it seems that they always have stocking problems too. I guess the stock boys spend more time stocking than walking.

How are your doggies? Sad to say we lost our giant schnauzer last thanksgiving.

My doggies are doing well -- enjoying the ocassional marrow bone. I'm sorry you lost your buddy. Do you have another dog, or will you be getting one? They are such a big part of our lives, and unfortunately when they go, they leave a big hole. I like your tour bus idea... my feet especially. The aisles are sooo wide and everything is so far apart.

Gonna get a Standard Schnauzer this time. They run 35-50 lbs (female/male). We thought about another 95 lb giant, old dog problems in 10 years, our AGE in 10 years and decided to downsize. Wife & I are current negotiating pepper/salt vs black. Here's a sample from our breeder. Which do you like?

We had Schnauzers  when I was a kid and my wife bought me one for my birthday after we got married. They are good dogs, but we've been converted to Yorkies in our family. They do better with strangers, don't take up space in the bed,  can jump in your lap without causing damage, and their turds practally disapear on their own.....

LOL! Diappearing turds! My 95 pounder used to drop 95 pounders. Lots of fun on a stroll through the neighborhood. Carried trash bags :-) You are right about the stranger thing. Schnauzers are not aggressive but they are highly protective. So you have to spend lots of time early in puppyhood socializing with humans, children and other dogs. The Standard is called the dog with the human brain. That can be good...and bad.

I think the black is stunning. I've never seen one before. My SIL/BIL had a salt and pepper, and it was nice too. I've always liked them. They are very intelligent.
