One of the rubber foot mats on our '97 Waverunner has come off and another is in the process of doing the same.  What is the proper adhesive to use to re-glue them?  I assume that before they are reattached they and the gel coat must be free of old glue, dirt, mildew, etc.  Just need to know what adhesive to use.

BTW, except for the cylinder rebuild required when my (at that time) teen-age daughter dutifully filled the oil reservoir with gasoline (gas isn't much of a lubricant!), the Yamaha has been a fantastic machine.

Thanks,

Nasreddin Hodja

I've used a tube glue called E6000 to hold a similar material as the mat and I'm sure it'll stick to gelcoat.  First time I saw it was in a repair kit to put a new velcro surface on my orbital sander--if it'll work there it should work anywhere.  I bought a tube at Walmart, Loews, or somewhere similar I think.

Liquid nails will probably do the job - available at any hardwars store. Second only to duct tape as a must have.

I'm going to order new ones for my 2000 XL800 now that Heather has it looking so nice. See the link. On that link, they have a place to order glue (I plan to get the 3M backing option). The glue they recommend looks like it is DAP contact cement which should be available at hardware stores.
