I guess it's to much to ask for our local boat shops to actually do what they say they are going to do OR stand behind their work!!!

"Sure I can take a look at it this week". Can you call me and let me know what the problem is, "Sure".  6 days later and no phone call.  So i call and ask if they have fixed the problem, nope have'nt looked at it yet.  I will make sure I do it the first of next week so you will have it for the fourth.  I call yesterday and ask is it fixed? "Man, I have jsut not looked at it yet, I went to some car auctions in Flordia this week". Really? You could not have called and let me know you were not going to even open the motor!!!

Then. We have our boat winterized at the end of last year by a diffrent company (it has always ran perfect before then).
So we put it the water the beginning of this year and it won't even crank.  We call the company and let them know that we have a problem.  They say I'm sorry but thats not our fault nor our problem.  It's going to be 3 weeks before I can look at it.  If I were you I would call someone else if you want it to run before then.

What a bunch of crooks!!!

My boat will be going back to Georgia to get worked on from now on, where people say and do what they promise.

Sorry, just venting.

You need to take that boat to CatBoat (Steve) at Cathouse Marine. Scroll down and you will see all his posts. Call him at 334-358-2838.

Politically Gone Fishin and I are polar opposites, but when it comes to honest, reasonable boat repair GF and I are in 110% agreement.  Steve Northington is a class act and you would not be making a mistake taking your boat to him.  If the timing is right he even makes house calls.

I implore you to think again about taking your boat back to Georgia.  Give Steve a chance.

It sure would be helpful if you named names so others can avoid the same problem.

I would really love to but I feel that would be in bad taste.

I will say this.  Maybe the local compinies will go out of their way for their friends, friends of friends or locals but us "out of towners" are just put on the back burner and left to fend for oueselves.

And again.....I will pass

I understand your frustration...I've been in your shoes before. But I too will recommend cat. I've been reading
this forum for a while...I've never read anything negative about cat...only praise. He bends over backwards to
help people, offering trouble shooting advice for free...He solved a problem for me last year over the phone.
As we say in the south, he's a all around good ole boy. If its closer for you to take it to Ga., thats good...but
if cat is closer, I would take it to him..  This is comming from a person that normaly dont recommend anyone.
Whoever you choose...Good Luck, hope you are boating soon.

I live outside of Nashville, TN... CAT has helped me with some issues that i had on my Mercruiser, with no prospect of ever getting any business (money) from me... He took the time out of his schedule multiple times at my convenience... not his.
If you just don't want to do business with someone in AL, then ... ok. But everything that I have experienced from him is nothing but "class act".
I hope you change your mind, but if not, good luck in your hunt to find a good mechanic. They can be hard to find. (BTW, I have a good one here... just like to do things myself when possible)

Crappy : )

(just outside of Nashville)
(unpaid and probably unwanted review of the situation)

Sorry that you missed riding your boat on the fourth. I see you "passed" on the recomendation from some. I hope it was not from a previous experience, meeting or conversation that has left the slightest bitterness concerning me or my company. However, if it was or was'nt, I still extend any invitation possible to help you get the repairs needed so that you can enjoy the rest of the summer. Sometimes, we can't make service calls, and sometimes it is impossible to diagnose problems on the phone. He11, sometimes somethings just can't be fixed! Rarely does winterizing a boat, have anything to do with it not cranking in the spring. Let me know if there is anything I can try to do for you.
