Mariner motor not pumping water

I just replaced the pump not just the impeller in a 60 hp outboard mariner but it does not pump water at idle but pumps good when you speed up motor. Any idea what could be wrong? Tube is clear of all dirt daubers and does pump a good stream at higher than idle.

Are you sure you installed the correct impeller? Sounds like it is not sealing very good. I am not a mechanic, but I have replaced a few.

CAT... It is on the water muffs, have not put in water yet. The pump and impeller were the correct one because they were idential to the one I replaced. Thanks for any help ! !

I'll bet ya Pizza at Chucks tomarrow if you'll back it in the water it'll work like a charm. Quit using cheap muffs. ;) (all this info PROVIDING you installed all said parts, did not have ANY left over and you installed them correctly) Only NC2 can buy a kit and have parts left over. oops.

You are right... I am using a cheap set of muffs, I didn't have any parts left over. I can tell you must have seen this before. I will try to get it in the water this weekend. Thanks for the info and everyone on the forum really appreciates your help. Thanks John

You, and others here have no idea how much yall mean to me and my family! We are currently working on a venture, that will put Cathouse on Lake Martin. U gotta remember, I was talking to a woman (NC2)about boat repairs. She called herself crazy. I just happen to know there are various degrees of "crazy" when it comes to ladies. I also understand how those various levels can be delt with, so as to keep piece among family and friends and all neighbors within 500 yards or so. Trust me on this why don't ya. When women don't run properly, or give you trouble, run hot, skip, backfire, take on water or when there bilge pumps stick they have to be repaired in a COMPLETELY different manner. MAV this is something you can't be taught, you gotta just learn it on your own. It ain't like you can plug them into your laptop and pull up a history and see a fault code. If that was so, the software would be unaffordable. And, where in the heck would you plug the cable in to get such info???

ALL THIS IS WRONG.....
Run hot (hot flashes)

PLEASE READ AND LEARN......
Run hot = When they're runnin', there HOT as firecracker. Wonderful on the eyes, full of viger and completely irresistable and full of sexy beauty!
Skip = Small quivers when you kiss them on the neck, rub there silky soft skin and whisper in there ear and tell them how pretty they are.
Backfire = When they get mad, only because you (the man) did not quite live up to there expectations, or came up a little short and they got really mad and upset and popped of something that you really did not want to hear.
Take on water = This is when, they "ease" into the lake wearing that nice bikini (you know,the one that you told her made her look so young and hot). And you remind her how great she looks all wet, and ask if you may swim with her.
Bilge pumps stick = If you screw up just ONE THING from above, just go back to the house and shut up, cause whatever is making her spew all those bad words is probably gonna continue and there is nothing you can do but hope her batteries run dead soon.
Now MAV, did you really expect me not to have an answer to this, before you burried yourself amongst the forum members???????? Just sayin'. See yall tomarrow. LMAO.
