I guess this is one for da CAT.

Installed a HEI in one engine for now. But the Tach is not working properly. Showing high. Is there an adapter for old style tachs now runing the HEI? or do I need to get a new set of tachs?

What did you do with your advance module? Did you eliminate the momentary kill? And other related ignition componets? Anyway, the grey wire should operate the tach. I don't remember exactly what ignition was/is in that boat, but make sure you have 12 volts at distributor. Remember, some of the older ones had resistors stepping down the voltage. Also, by using that HEI unit, your timing curve is completely different. Time the engine at about 28* total at 3,500 rpm. Let it fall where it wants to. If it is hard to crank you will have to go lower. One last note. If you have eliminated the momentary kill your drive will be very difficult to shift and you will have to lower your idle very low to correct that. Probably around 600 rpm or so. Hope that helps.
