Never received a reply from my email to the president, If there is any interest in getting the masses to join so we would have a chance at getting a decent water level that both sides could deal with for summer I would join.

I think their web site is a bit out of date. Bud Kitchin is a Lincoln City Councilman (heads up the Lake Clean-Up) Call him and see what info he can provide. His number is on the web site. I cant remember what our yearly dues are but they are cheap. 25 bucks or something like that. So low as to not worry about or remember. What the LMLPA needs is numbers. Everyone around the lake should get involved even those down river who enjoy year round water. The general well being of the lake should be their concern as well. There has been some improvement in the LMLPA since we joined several years ago, but not much. Communication is not currently a strong point of the organization. I did call them when our slew became stagnant and they were johnny on the spot checking the water quality. I greatly appreciated their timely effort. (Got the phone number out of the newsletter which I do not have with me) Like I said in my post concerning the levels, until their numbers grow and they have more people willing to donate their time, talents and resources there is only so much they can do. Growing an organization is not an instant proposition and takes time. It appears my wife and I will soon be moving to the area. If and when we do, I plan to start attending the meetings. Nothing happens until you as an individual are willing to get involved. Regards, RiverRatt

Jace, call this number and see if Bud Kitchen can help you with membership info. This is the cell number from his Lincoln City Council business card. Bud heads up the lake cleanup. (256) 239-0242 RiverRatt

Mike. ThePower CO.(APC) controls water levels for hydroelectric power production and flood protection at 7 dams along the Coosa river. The Corp. of Engineers also  supervises water levels. Unfortunately, yor points are true but not of concern to APC. LMLPA has negotiated with APC for 10 years, and they agreed to include 2 extra feet in the winter in their license renewal request this year. However, the Corp.required a restudy of water levels since the last review, which was many years ago. If they do that it will take years to complete. So, I expect the new license will be issued with no change in current winter and summer water levels. I suggest you join the LMLPA and you will get quarterly newsletters and notification of meeting dates. I am no longer President, and new officers will be elected soon. The secretary is Ann Moore at Amoore194@aol.com. Web site is lmlpa.org.

  Thanks for your interest.
