Boat Trade-In - Same Motor

I was looking at possibly purchasing a name brand bass boat, less motor, that has a weak transom. I would replace the transom and floor and have it available for someone that has a bass boat with the same or similar problems. Then instead of them waiting to have their boat repaired they could just trade-in their boat and put their motor on the already repaired boat and go fishing.
What do you think? Would this be worth the risk of investing in a boat without a motor? Do you think someone might trade-in their boat for another and keep their engine?
