Anyone notice how expensive they have become? For example $3.99 for ground beef - on sale? Give me a break. I think they are trying to reposition themselves to the Publix level. Good luck...

You can do better at Catherines market and get much, much better quality.

I used to bring steaks over from Atlanta, but most weekends they have steaks on sale and they are close in price to what I can get (maybe a $1 a pound more), but they will custom cut to the thickness I want and it is fresh.

You can sign up for their mailing list and get all their weekly specials.

I so rarely shop in Winn Dixie, but it's likely they are trying to compete with the other upscale supermarkets.  They've been spending money upgrading their stores (unfortunately not the one in AC)  They are also getting probably squeezed by Fresh Market and Earth Fare.

I think food prices have been going up in general.  Part of it can probably be attributed to the increases in gas prices.

Food as well as most things are starting to rise.  Expect to pay higher for anything imported too from Asia.  The cost of doing business there now appears to be cycling upwards as the factory workers demand more money as their economy continues to grow.  So much for no inflation.  By the end of 2011 I suspect most goods will be 10% or more higher than a year prior.
