Got a lead on a mercury 10 hp tiller outboard that is at least 15 yrs young. Might need twist throttle replaced. Owner said it might be loose or broke. Assuming broke, in your best quess would it be feasible to replace? Can pick the motor up for a little less than 400. Value your opinion and thanks.

Loose or broke is the key. Surely it can be repaired??? Maybe I have, or can find a used throttle. If it checks out, and runs well that is not a bad price. If it needs lots of work, that is a little different story. But, it should be worth the money even if you part it out. For comparison purposes, I have a 50hp. premium condition for 1200. So, make sure the 10hp is all there. If its local, I'll go with you. Hope I have helped you.

Thanks CAT! I'm looking for a small outboard for my 14 ft jon boat. Think I will pass on this one. Boat is certified for a 35 hp, but I want to stay between 5 and 15 for handling purposes. Higher you go, more weight I have to lift. Keep me in mind if you run across one. really do appreciate the response. Have a good one.
