I have the pool set up...just waiting for teams to go in which will happen in March. I will post detailed info later for those who will be new to our pool. Those who signed up for our Fall football pool (FootballPalooza) are already in the basketball pool...you only need to log in and click on My Pools and the pool should show up. The following pertains to our pool:
POOL NAME: Lakes Madness 2011
POOL ID: 55173
POOL TYPE: Public w/ no fees of any kind
POOL DEADLINE: High Noon on Thursday, Mar. 17
POOL SCORING METHOD: Progressive Pick'em
Please post or email me if you have difficulty getting started. I am posting this now as I will be out of commission for 2-3 weeks (following in CAT's footsteps). In my absence, I am sure any questions can be answered by some of the veteran players.

If you have not participated in our pools before, just follow the simple instructions below. Please post or email me if you need help:
1. go to www.pooltracker.com (see link below) and click on "join a pool"
2. To join our pool, use 55173 in the Pool ID block or click on "find a pool" and browse under L for Lakes Madness 2011
3. Disregard the block for pool password...not required for our pool
4. Provide a valid e-mail address in the next block
5. Fill in the screen name you wish to use in the pool...preferrably your lakes online forums screen name if you have one. If you do not fill in the screen name you wish to use, pooltracker will put your email address in as screen name.
6. Finally, check the little square that you agree to the terms and conditions and click Join.
7. In making your picks, make all first round picks then move on to round 2 and so on until you pick the tourney champ. DON'T FORGET to pick the TIEBREAKER score which is your prediction for TOTAL points scored by both teams in the championship game. This is used in case there is a tie at the top after all scoring is done.
This site is a trusted site that we have used for several years. It has very little advertisement and no popups that I am aware of.
Once you have joined, click on "My Pools" while logged in and our pool will appear on your page...click on edit picks and fill out your brackets prior to high noon on Thursday, March 18. Thanks for joining and hope you enjoy the tournament.

Looking forward to it. Picks look harder this year as the teams seem more closely bunched at the top.

I question whether really following a sport is an advantage or not. Seems I do best when I just go with gut feelings. BB is a good example. I've done pretty well, and I do no more than see the results if they are on the front sports page. Don't read articles, game reports, watch it on TV. Nothing. I can't tell you who is ranked #1, 2 3, etc right now. Don't know who they were, but do recall seeing a number of # 1's getting beat this year.
That said, it is just fun to play the pools with our Lake Martin people. Don't really care how I do, the journey is what makes it so enjoyable.
