Have a '95 Astro Fish and Ski, 200hp 'black max.' -- still a very functional boat..  Runs great, but the upper hull finish is starting to look rough..  Live on the Lake, far end of Pace point (not far from the cat house)  Would be interested in fixing up the 'old girl', but actually kinda have the hot's for a newer boat; thinking center console, 4 stroke, ready to fish and  with enuff room and power to ski.  (Have Kids and grand kids -- they get bored with the 'toon boat, unless we are heading to "Chucks" and PaPa is paying..)  Thoughts, comments and/or observations appreciated..  Terry Burke

Shine her up if she runs great and has the performance you want, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket..... NCII does a great job if you need major restoration and Cat can fix it as long as you own it.

I have been learning lately about how MetalFlake surfaces can be restored. I am presently redoing an older glastron and the shine came out great but the faded color doesn't go back to the original color. It is not really just shining the surface but removing the outer surface and bringing out a new finish from the same gel coat. It may not remove the new boat bug but it may postpone it a couple of years. Let me know if I can help.

I would be interested in how you restore the gelcoat/metalflake finish if you would share this info.
Thanks

It is just a a matter of removing the roughness by sanding it down to the good stuff under it, if there is still enough material left. It depends how rough it is as to what level of sand paper you use. Then it is a matter of gradually bringing it back to a slick surface.
