Alabama Power just updated the flood to crest at or near 471 by tomorrow. I wished they had left it at that to begin with. To announce 471 by today and then to lower to 470 is huge to some. 1 foot can be the difference of a boat being safe or not. Not surprised by this update the way the lake just keeps creeping up.

Agreed, wish they had stayed with the 471 that they originally stated. It is much better to estimate the worst and have folks prepare for that. I know several owners who can handle 470 fairly well but another foot gives them significant problems. Makes us wonder what the estimated crest will be tomorrow. It's still rising and is higher than I've seen it in the 6 years that I've been here. I realize that it has been a lot higher before that but it's hard to believe that 4 to 5 inches of rain could cause this.

I just flew in from Tampa and I noticed flying over Martin that they are still low. I just don't understand how that can be. I know it's a whole different river system but it's a bigger lake, more surface area, and they got just as much rain. ????? Not complaining, just observing.

I'm the glass is half full type of guy. It could be worse, Japan is in trouble big time. The trickle down effect from it is going to be hitting us soon. We will have forgotten this flood way before we forget Japan's earthquake.

10-4 to that, all things considered, we are very lucky. Parts of Japen have basically been wiped off the face of the earth. I'll take what we have any day. But it is fun to complain and fuss at Al Power--it keeps our mind off the really serious stuff going on in the world.
