Did you ever think that a lake Martin marina that was paid to winterize your boat and paid very well would charge but not preform the oil change ? Well it happened to me.Lucky  for me I now have a very competent and honest  marina to do my work. So if you have your oil changed it won't hurt to check it and make sure the work has been preformed.

What's the point of your post if you don't name the marina. Call them out. Maybe they will read it and get their act together.

I personally would hate to pay for services not rendored.  For future information, how did you know your oil had not been changed?

If the motor had been run much at all, there would be ash in the old oil as opposed to having the glorious gold color of new oil....

First I was not the one who noticed the oil had not been changed.I had concerns about a new boat burning oil so I took it in to a local marina to have it checked out.In doing so they called and asked when the last service was preformed.I explained it was winterize at the end of the 2010 season about September and the boat had not been used since that time. The explained that the oil was black and appeared to have a full season on it and sent me a photo of it.I then called the marina that had winterized the boat explained what happened. Then requested I return it to the to correct the problem.I went to the lake the next day to check it out my self and agreed the oil had not been changed when it was winterized.I asked if it was possible that after the oil change they ran it to put antifreeze in it and was told no it would not look that black. After consideration I decided to not return to the previous marina to have the work preformed but to let it stay where it was do the work.

Hey PNaked havent seen you on for a while.Hope all is well.I had to use the ramp at Anchor Bay to do some work today and when i was finished i went over to talk to Mr. C to ask if he knew what this person was talking about? He said he did and it is sad that he was not able to solve the concern that Mr.sel had about his boat.He said the boat had run all season with only lightweight break-in oil and Mr.sel would just top it off as needed. So when it was time to winterize the oil was black. Mr C said when he changed the oil and filter then ran the engine the new oil was somewhat discolored but was perfectly fine to use. And it is. Mr.C said another shop had checked the oil and with out knowing the past history of the black break-in oil just assumed it had not been changed.Mr.C said Mr.sel was offered rechange of the oil and filter at no cost and would do it while he waited. Mr.C asked me to keep this to myself but since he dosent read the forum he wont know.I just felt that this needed to be addressed those are good folks over there.

Yes it is true they did agree to correct the problem and I agree MR.C is a good man. However when I am told and I see how the oil looks I disagree with Mr. C the oil had not been changed.I made the choice not to return to Mr. C not because of him but because it would have taken 1/2 day of my time to do so.I only hope that either Mr. C is right and the oil was changed or that it was an oversight either way I know it has now been done. One final though...If Mr. C is right that the reason the oil was Black then why is it not black now????It was very black when I inspected it as Mr.C said it was prior to him changing it then why would it not be now???? Also I had already planed on speaking with Mr. C about this ASAP but have not been on that part of the lake yet.
