An older man goes in for his consultation with the doctor after his physical. The doc tells him that all in all he is in pretty good shape and asks him if he has any questions. the senior citizen says he feels great but his memory is showing some bad signs and that his kids are trying to push him into some sort of assisted living facility. He wonders whether the doctor has any way to determine whether a person his age still has all his mental faculties. Well the doctor says "Sometime I bring a patient into a room with a bathtub filled to the top with water, and an eyedropper, a spoon, and a large coffee mug sitting beside it. I then instruct the patient to empty the tub as quickly as possible." "Oh I see" says the old man "of course a person who is still sharp will use the mug." The doctor answers "No, a person who is still sharp will pull the plug. I think I can get you in a room with a courtyard view."
