A Jewish fellow is new to the community and has a great desire to join a very snooty country club which has a noted golf course. He goes to have a few drinks with the membership chairman to discuss joining. The chairman is sympathetic but sadly tells him that much to his personal disgust the club still has a restrictive clause against Jews. He says that maybe since he is unknown in the town he might be able to make it work if the prospect didn't have such an obviously Jewish name.
The next day the Jewish fellow goes to see a judge and legally changes his name from the very Jewish "Nathan Steinberg" to the rather Anglican "Nathanial Stonemont". It worked...two weeks later he is inducted into the country club and goes out for a first round of golf with three very upper crust charter members of the club. At the first tee Nat Stonemont drives a horrible slice which actually ends up on the adjacent fairway. He slaps his forehead with his hand and shouts "Oy vey!!" but upon seeing the other three turn to stare at him open mouthed, he quickly adds "whatever the he// that means".
