As an Auburn fan I think they should shut down the basketball program.  It has been an embarassment for years.  I had trouble finding the results of yesterdays SEC opener.  Now I see why:  no one wanted to report such bad news. (65-25 with AU shooting 27%).   For years I have argued that it takes only one or two marquee players to make a college team.  Schools much smaller than AU are able to get some players.   What's the deal?

It is a very discouraging situation...especially to someone like me who took great pride in the BB program during the 60's and again during the 80's ...but now it seems that it is nearly impossible to get a blue chipper to come to AU (understandably)...not sure what, if anything, could turn this sorry mess around....

I practiced my shots from the corner so I could hit them like Lee DeFore.  Growing up on a cattle farm there was just so much work that we did not take many trips, or special events.  Every my dad, mother, brother and I would drive the hour to Montgomery Garrett Colesium to watch the Auburn-Alabama basketball game.

Lee DeFore...now there was a pure shooter!  It was just amazing to watch him hit that jumper with such accuracy...and seems that it was always  'nothing but net'.
