Be on the look out for swarms of Honey Bees

This is swarm season. If you or anyone you know sees swarms of bees hanging from trees or structure I will remove them for them. Bees swarm when the hive they have bulit becomes full & over crowded.
I would be glad to remove them free. I can be reached at my email...

2 jars of honey. One from the store shelf and the other from a honey farmer in Cross Creek, Florida. Both claim no processing/heating etc.
The store brand tastes more like what I think of as honey. The other brand tastes more like heavy cane syrup (color too). The Florida brand is apparently seasonal, offering different flavors depending on what flora is blooming when.
The question? Is honey production around LM seasonal?? And, if so, which season produces which flavor honey?
Maybe this belongs on the Grilling/Recipe Forum, but I gotta' tell ya'll,,, I like my Alaga and a buttered biscuit with a chunk of Conecuh sausage. But, I switched to honey over Alaga once. Something special about fresh butter and honey.

Yes, Its seasonal here on Lake Martin. Mar 1 I will start adding honey supers and the bees will be working to store and cap honey. That will last 6 weeks - 2 months and will slow and pick back up around August.
The only complaint I have concerning store bought honey is it generally is heated to bottle easier. Heated to the point where it will loose its good qualities that may be benefical to us with allergies & other medical problems. Also, local honey has the antiboties from local plants that will help us with allergies & such...
I am not a expert but, learning everyday. When I started just short of a year ago I attended Auburn University Synopisium, Then a 13 hour online course & I am attending a course now at out Beekeeper Association in Opelika.

Yes, Just ask them where is Tony Goss`s booth and they will direct you. Should have some light colored honey in about 6 weeks... Things are starting to bloom and the bees are hard at work for us...
Tip: All honey may granulate at some time. It never goes bad... Simply put your jar of honey into a boiler of water with the lid off and heat until it turns back to its natural state...Honey was found in pyramids 4000 years old and it was just as good as the day the bees made it...

Thanks, SL...how did I miss that?....How about sorghum syrup...refrigerate?...bet they didn't find a jar of sorghum in those pyramids....

Honey will last forever. It may and, most likely will granulate from humidity but, just take the lid off, put it in a boiler of water and warm it up to its natural state. DO NOT OVER HEAT. You will loose all the good qualities in the honey. Local honey contains antoboties of plants in our area and will help with most allergies etc.
I will try to post a picture of one of my hives tossed during the storm...

Wow, you have a swarm of bees at someplace. This is a good thing in terms of having a fresh and full of quality honey in my view.
