Ulysses E. McGill, Lil Talisi and other BGE users.  Cathouse now sells Traeger grills.  The end of the BGE shall come.  McGill and Lil Talisi, the cook-off is coming soon.  Just sayin

Cat, Although I love my Masterbuilt Electric, as a favor to you and because of your fine service to the members of this forum, I will volunteer to test and post reviews of a Traeger grill/smoker. Please send my free sample grill ASAP so I can begin testing. I think the Big Tex will suffice, but any of the larger ones will work too.  Thanks!!

TC

TC, in order to perform the correct test you probably will need an exact brand and quality of meat, that I am sure Cat will provide along with the grill.

I think your next diversification should be an FFL - Cathouse Performance Marine, Kill'em and Grill 'em... When are you going to update your website with the details????

And after reading Traegers website would love to taste meat from a Traeger vs a BGE, as the Traeger concept is interesting. Also sounds like Cat is calling out Ulysses, Talisi, and other BGE owners for a Lake Martin BBQ cookoff. Last time he did this he tucked his tail and ran, only time will tell if he will live up to his callout of BGE owners. Since I do not have either a BGE or Traeger I will be Cats Sous Chef as per Traegers website you set it and forget it, get to drink martinis while cooking. So I am on Cats team - LOL.

Blah, Blah, Blah....... and then the real challenge.
I understand that it is a great smoker and that you can even bake on it up to a temp around 425. However the reviews state that you can only reach that temp on a hot summer day and that during cold temps a max of 350 is about all you will achieve. That limits you during the challenge which should explore all aspects and equal challenges of the two competitors. The ribs, butts, beer can chicken and ATB's should be comparable and even possibly sausages and burgers. But when you move to the pizza there will be a hiccup and when you have to serve that 2 inch filet medium rare in 10 minutes the white flag will probably be raised. But like everyone else on the forum, if there is food and beer involved we will be there, both cooking and eating and having a good time. By the way please ask DeeDee when she wants that ham smoked?

Not sure about the "ham" part, but I think you just "smoked" a Cat

Smoked CAT is what you get at the Chinese Buffett.  And Lil Tailiseeeee,  You say :"
But when you move to the pizza there will be a hiccup "  The Pizza Man ran into the Daytona Jet dryer truck last week at Daytona.  Forget pizza!!!  Really, let the Pizza go.  I have done my own testing, we sell Traeger here at Cathouse, I am now prepared for the challenge, YOU WILL LOOSE, and enough said.  Filets will come from "King Kutter Meats", but be aware that I have perfected "Prime Rib".  Yep!  Bling it on.  They are on the showroom now.  ps.  Remember that you told me how to cook the Ham, so we can't go there.  Just Tellin'.

that you finally cooked her a ham that was edible. Prime rib, yes another slow smoked cut and I can't wait to try it. What are you serving tomorrow?

In addition to a "smoked" a cat, I'm wondering what Cat is smokin'.......and I'm not talking about on the Trager. Again, we're not saying a Trager is bad, we're just saying it's very limited; It's a fine tool if you just want to smoke some meat on occasion in an "Easy Bake Oven" kind of way. A BGE will do everything a Trager will do and much much more...period.

If your gonna sell grills (which I think is a good idea), you need to offer the Egg along with your Traeger; jus sayin'.

I like that idea.  And, I do want to have a cook-off just so I can poke you and Larry. He keeps on reminding me about my unedible HAM.  One day when I was over at his house, he was cooking a Ham, and when he showed it to me, it looked like a Ham out of the movies.  It was like, perfectly season with strategically placed cloves and all kinds of stuff.  Picture perfect.  If it taste as good as it looked you and I both are in trouble.  However, I have pretty much perfected Prime Rib, and my Filet Mignon is wonderful.  (I think so anyway)  I was gonna call yall Saturday but never got around to it.  We could have some fun withthis.  Maybe we'll get together next weekend.  I'll be around most of the week, and next Saturday.

lol, I remember the "HAM" day.....I was over at Larry's shortly after you left. I was planning to stop by the Cat House today, but my friend Marty needed some help with his jet ski lifts (and I wasn't sure if you were there) so I passed on by. I will try and stop in for a visit on Tuesday when I'm on my way back to work in the big city.  Is Fop's new (used) boat still sitting in your show room? I thought I saw it in the pics Mike posted....if he decides he doesn't want it, maybe I'll buy it.

Yep, it's still there.  I told him we would keep it there until he got ready for it.  He is good dude.  See ya tomarrow.

Hey guys. New here but not to the Rez. I only live a couple miles away and I'm on it atleast twice a week. UI saw this BGE post and NO WAY on it keeping up with an Egg. LOL I went and looked them up to see just what this Traeger grill you talk about. it won;t hold a candle to the BGE. I can cook anything on the Egg. Fish, Slow smoked Briskett and Boston butts. PIZZA, BREAD, you name it. Best food I ever ate came off the Egg
