Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her

nose into other people's business.

Several members did not approve of her extra-curricular activities, but feared her enough

to maintain their silence.

She made a mistake, however, when she accused Frank, a new member, of being an alcoholic,

after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.

She emphatically told Frank (and several others) that everyone seeing it

there would know what he was doing!

Frank, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away.

He didn't explain, defend, or deny. He said nothing.

Later that evening, Frank quietly parked his pickup in front of

Mildred's house, walked home .... and left it there all night.

(You gotta love Frank!)

A new strip joint opened in town and the Preacher and Deacons at the Baptist church were apalled that something like this could happen in the peaceful little bastion of propriety that was their town. The Chairman of the board of Deacons along with the Preacher decide it is their Christian duty to visit the place and report back to the full board and congregation. The two men go into the den of sin and order lemonade. It takes them over an hour and a half to fully observe all the disgusting activities in the place and feel comfortable in reporting their findings. Finally the Preacher stands and says "I have seen enough, this place is indeed a den of horrors and sin and we must pledge to close it down!" The two men begin to walk out, suddenly the Preacher turns saying "Oops. just a minute, I left my hat at the table." The Deacon replies "No you didn't Preacher, it's hangin right there on your lap."
