The other day I was going to carry the family out for a joy ride. I put my boat in the water and it was drifting out while I primed the motor, I lifted the throttle leaver and the choke in. The motor fired right up and I was very excited since I had just put a new head on the starboard side. Then all of a sudden the boat started going forward at full throttle. In a panic I tried to put the boat in reverse but since the throttle lever was up of course it wouldn't go. I then killed the motor and when it was over I was parked on the boat ramp next to my truck. That was the start of a very bad after noon. When I got home and took a closer look I found out that the teeth on the Throttle cam inside the control box were gone and the parts are obsolete if any one knows where I can find the parts it would be a lot of help the part numbers are 0389266 and 0387726. I have found some used control boxes but was hopeing to fix the one that is in the boat. any help would be appreciated. The parts are labeled as #2 and #23 on most parts diagrams.

Also, I have a hotfoot for sale if anyone is interested or I will gladly trade it for the parts to fix my control box.

One is showing at Dickerson Marine in N.Y., but when I called they said they did not have it.  The other part #387726 IS available.  I'll also look around local when I get back to Prattville and see if I can spot one.  Also, I have a good friend that owns Bow to Stern Marine in Prattville.  He is well educated on OMC products, especially the older ones.  He has many parts.  Maybe you should call him and chat with him.  His name is Craig and his number is 334-546-5477.  You will find him most helpful.  If all else fails, I I think I do have a control box in Prattville.  Good luck.  Steve.

Thanks Steve, I will try to get in touch with him on Monday and if all else fails I will give you a call about the control box.
