There are only 10 days left until the water level is supposed to be at summer level. We are only up 1 foot which is
1 1/2 feet short of the 4/20 goal. Is there any "official" word on when we should have water. There is no way I can even get my bass boat in the water at the house. Thanks

Well, I have a bit of crow to enjoy since my last post. At the time the lake level was coming up according to the rule line.
Since that time it seems every time rain is predicted a few days in advance, the power company pulls the plug and drops the level. I think someone is paranoid that a few drops of rain will cause a flood
I'm with you on the bass boat, I fish Rabbit Branch a lot and have had to put in at Lakeside. I fish Sundays most of the time so as to avoid the Saturday tournament crowd.
Looking forward to being able to use our launch, be able to get my boat to our pier and get into my boat without having to use a parachute.
By the way, was up there a week ago, early morning bite was terrific on points, buzzbait and zara spook.

Well, its 6:09 and the forecast is calling for rain later this week, Sooooooooo the powers that be have chosen once again to drop (at this time) a portion of the level gained last night.
Weather forecasters need to hush or we aint ever gonna have a full pond

LOL. Have to admit, Crow is beginning to taste pretty good. (enough Cavenders will make most anything taste good)
I will come back around to my understanding of the levels fluctuating during the Summer months but this Spring and its missed opportunities for the lake level not being at or close to the rule line are difficult to understand.
Taking an early retirement and very much desiring to enjoy the lake this first year of being retired could be cause for a bit of impatience on my part LOL

Yep. And back inFebruary, they assured us they knew what they were doing letting all that fresh rainfall roll on downstream.
Martin got a variance, makes one wonder who got their wallets padded.
And y'all remember that argument they had about they had to wait until April to start bringing the water up so that it wouldn't disturb the spawning habits of the fish. Well, I'm not a marine biologist but I'm pretty sure I know how this particular game is played. A fish has two or three things in mind. Eat, survive and reproduce. And I've seen plenty of bluegill beds even with the low water. They are reproducing just fine.
Ok, I'm through...next!
And btw. I'd still rather be where I am than anywhere else I've seen.

Russell gets APSC to do what they want on Martin, I was there in March during spring break getting my boat serviced and they were busy as they could be with almost a full pool.
I have been riding my Sea Doo's for a month, had the boat out two weekends ago, it is ok as long as you stay on the main channel. From Powell's trailer park to the dam is plenty deep but when you pass Powell's going toward Stembly Bridge it gets shallow. I just can't get to my pier.

I also pay close attention to the weather forecast due to the fact that it has dictated my work schedules. I have seen a pattern develop this year, EVERY time rain has been forecasted several days in advance, the power company drops the water at the first announcement of possible wet weather. This is not a once or twice time event, it has happened this entire Spring. Then, as the rain event gets closer the chances for rain have lessened or been removed from the forecast. Damn shame!

Looks like every lake below us is maintaining within 6 inches. There was plenty of water that came from Georgia in the last month. Rome got plenty and so did around Lake allatoona. It was DRY and we got so much rain it is in the trees now. so we have let a lot of water down the Coosa river and they have just sucked it dry. Not to mention how they sucked it dry in the winter. Once again we get the shaft. Love my place but this is getting old. Then they flooded us last year for no reason at all. Someone does not know what they are doing.

My wife sent me an article on AOL that apco says that the water might not come up to summer levels for a while if ever up to 465. Look on AOL for the article. John

Well I think they know what there doing it depends on whos stuffing your wallet. AP is alwayse on the take with someone and has a book of excuses. Why does all there crap just apply to Logan Martin. When AP flushes it pulls the water from LM. We also need our politiciasn to act on the water rights bill before Georgia just takes the water. Maybe there getting us use to that.

If you want to know where your water is going --- it is going to releases at Jordan Dam for the canoes which Ala Power refers to as "recreational releases". When we have "Low Flow "- ie., LOW RAINFALL - which is what AP says we have right now - they are supposed to reduce the flow going thru Jordan Dam to 2,000 cu ft a second. They have Not! Right now - thru Jordan Dam they are releasing from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm 8,200 cu ft a second. From 3:00 pm to 9:00 am, they are releasing 4,200 cfs. No wonder Logan Martin Has No Water ! This HAS been going on and IS going on 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. And then on special holiday/events they will release 10,000 cfs ! And all while "exremely dry conditions". !!???
This water has to come from somewhere, and it is coming out of Logan Martin Lake! I hope it makes everybody on Logan Martin Lake feel real good that we can't use our boats and enjoy our lake homes fully for our "recreation" but Alabama Power is taking good care of the canoeists below Jordan Dam!
And if you want to see an article about this, try to get a copy of the Outdoor Alabama magazine for April 2012 and in the article "Kings of the Waves" - it tells about all the fun they are having at the Coosa Whitewater events and all the special events they have planned with even HIGHER releases especially June 1-3. But they fail to mention they are draining Logan Martin Lake for these canoe events and Logan Martin Lake property owners and Logan Martin recreationists are screwed.
Until the property owners on Logan Martin Lake do something to get this changed, we will NEVER have summer levels again without Above Average rainfall. Above Average!
As far as AP saying we have extremely dry conditions -- extremely? There has been enough rainfall for Smith Lake which is above summer level. Lake Purdy in B'ham is just right below full pool. The lakes in N. Georgia are above pool that feeds the Coosa river. Everyone below Logan Martin is full pool. So explain that Alabama Power! Again, if Logan Martin Lake is going to have water according to Alabama Power - we have to have flooding rains!
They will have to reduce the releases for the canoeists at Jordan to get Logan Martin lake level to full pool. Or make all the Coosa lakes above the Jordan dam equally share the burden of lower lake levels for the whitewater releases.
If you don't believe what I'm saying - I encourage you to get the facts - call and check the releases at Alabama Power 257-1077 listen to the menu and check Jordan releases for yourself. Check out the Coosa River Pulse Releases web site at Jordan Dam and you will see the release schedule - as well as the planned EXTRA releases of 10,000 cfs from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Memorial Day, July 4th and labor Day weekend - and also the added June 1-3 special event for all the canoes. The facts are there.
Also, this is not anything personal against the canoeists - I also like to canoe. But what is happening here is totally an injustice to the businesses, property owners and the recreationists of Logan Martin Lake!
Exremely Dry conditions, Indeed -- on Logan Martin Lake only. Again.

Three significant rainfalls in one week, still LM levels have not changed. The lake mismanagement group have other uses for water and could care less about the folks on LM. The fish are already screwed up. Where I should have bass, I have carp and garr fish. Visiting family plans for the summer have been changed. Too bad we have to suffer for selfish mismanagement. Kind of reminds you of the government.
