I have a 302 inboard motor and yes I neglect it. I have been trying to run it more to clean it out. I run non ethanol only. Its running lots better but when I try to idel (say like to a dock) the engine surges up and down. Its this a carb issue or a fuel filter? I clean the fuel filter once per year. Maybe its time to splurge and buy a new one.

Where is a good place online to buy parts such as a fuel filter...

My first guess would be the idle circuits in the carb. Maybe it's time for a good carb rebuild?

Whatever it was, could be repaired with a six-pack of beer, a can of WD 40 and a hammer (and probably in that order)... :-)

I put 2oz of Start Your Engines in a gallon gas can and took gas line off boat in put into gas can.. Ran all the gas through the boat with the S.Y.E. and it runs fine... Just needed a little cleaning due to my neglect....
