I think lard is alive an well.....I've seen chefs use it on cooking shows as well as my old school relatives.

Lard is much healthier than a lot of cooking oils. The key is home rendered lard not the stuff in a tub at grocery store. It is pretty easy to make if you get some good quality fat back. I had an uncle that ate sausage, pork brains and eggs every day and any thing he fried was in, Yep you guessed it LARD. This unhealthy life style finely killed him a the very young age of 98. Don't fall in to the Michelle Obama healthy eating propaganda.

at the name in the original post. If you read my posts here, you know we are not low fat nazis. We can't even buy Cuban Bread locally because what is available ain't got LARD, and it ain't close to the real thang.
Crisco will have to serve.
