It's the way you say it... A University of Georgia student was visiting a Yankee relative in Boston over the holidays. He went to a large party and met a pretty co-ed. He was attempting to start up a conversation with the line, "Where does you go to school?" The coed, of course, was not overly impressed with his grammar or southern drawl, but did answer his question. "Yale," she replied. The Georgia student took a big, deep breath and shouted, "WHERE DOES YOU GO TO SCHOOL??"

We all have our "Duh" moments.  This story brings to mind a couple of jokes from ancient history including one of similar lineage:

A UGA coed also went north and attended a hoytie toytie party.  She asked an attractive male attendee in her best southern drawl "Where do you go to school at?" The young man replies in his most dismissive "Well, I can assure you I attend a institution where everyone knows enough not to end a sentence in a preposition."  The GA coed answers "Oh, Ah am so sorry, permit me to rephrase ma question...where do you go to school at a$$hole?"

The late southern humorist Lewis Grizzard told of the Italian family traveling through south GA in a rented car.  Somewhere outside Ty Ty the car broke down.  After a few minutes a sheriff's deputy stops and asks how he can help.  He quickly realizes they speak no English and learns from their rental papers and passport that they are from Italy.  He manages to communicate that he will have a wrecker tow their car into town to a mechainc. Upon arrival at the shop the owner Dewain pushes the car into his shop bay and looks under the hood, puts the car on the hoist and looks at the undercarriage, finally he comes out wiping his hands on his overalls and shaking his head.  He walks up to the man and says "Waal, hit looks lahk yo manifold dun busted." The man has a blank look. The deputy steps in and says "Dewain, these heer folks is from Italy and they cant understan whut you a sayin."  Dewain spits and then does what any sophisticated American would do when faced with communicating with a non-English speaking foreigner, in a much louder voice shouts "AH SAY, YO MANIFOLD' S BUSTED."
