A few people mentioned earlier in the summer that Alabama Power had requested that winter pool level be changed to 462, but at that time, no one knew if it would be approved or not.
Has anyone heard if this will be the new level, or will we go back down to 460?

I was at the last LMLPA meeting and the AP rep stated that they had applied for license to change the winter level to 462 but
did not know when or if it would be approved.

Talked with APCO about the faster than normal drawdown. The response I go was nothing out of the ordinary
going on with Logan Martin, they are following the curve down for the normal
drawdown. It may just seem fast since rains and resulting flows allowed us to
keep it pretty much full during the latter part of the summer though September. As far as a temporary
winter pool vaiance, there are no plans for one this year. Current climate
predictions are for a normal to wetter winter period. Of course, APCO always
watch weather conditions and adjust as they can in cooperation with the Corps of
Engineers and other regulatory agencies.

average rainfall for APC basins for MTD October is 2.0 inches.

So far in October, we
have received : Coosa 1.9”, Tallapoosa 1.7”, Warrior 3.1”
This results in rainfall amounts of 112% of
basins-wide average for MTD October.
·
The 5-day forecast
indicates no rainfall is expected across our basins.
·
The near term 6-10 day
forecast indicates higher probabilities of wetter than normal conditions
and the 8-14 day forecast indicates higher probabilities of wetter than
normal conditions, as well.
·
The one month and
three month forecasts from the National Weather Service indicates equal chances
of below normal, normal, and above normal precipitation for our basins
