When do the small stripes(I think some people call them white bass) start to move into the sloughs on Lake Martin? I have been lucky the last two years to be at the lake when they start to run. I think it was about the middle of March. I intended to mark the date on the calendar but never did. When they are running you can catch 1 to 2 pounders on every cast with a white jig. It is a great time for the youngsters(and oldies too) to have a lot of fun.

White bass and stripes are a whole different deal.. Not same species although they look a lot alike.. I normally catch whites when the crappie move into the shallows.. any day now, me thinks..
