Good morning, as everyone is aware Logan Martin is a "Flood Control" reservoir, with that designation we are subject to occasional flooding. Most people who live on or have property on the lake have accepted that this is part of being on Logan Martin. However, the hardest part is during flooding wakes from boats or a fisherman being on top of docks during those stages could cause possible damage.... We would like to propose a "Respect the Shore" program or campaign be instituted on Logan Martin during flooding. What this would entail is a demarcation of what would be an acceptable zone that boats would be allowed in. In other words, boats would not be allowed beyond the summer pool line during flooding. In addition, marinas and/or boat launches would have signs designated “Respect the Shore” requesting boaters to keep wakes down due to flooding.

If you would like to see something like this implemented please share and we welcome comments.

Remember that under well established Admiralty Law one is libel for wake damage.

I think that is a great idea.  I agree  from a previous post on the subject that more laws are probably  not the way to go but perhaps a " Respect the Shore " campaign would be great. I mentioned in an earlier post that perhaps at boat launches there be some sort of marker that would let folks know when the " Respect the shore " advisory was in effect.  Perhaps having a pole marked in red when the water was, say, over 466.0 . This would be 1' over full pool and I think that most piers on the lake have been built to handle up to that fluctuation in lake levels. Many residence associations could also post at private launches. I'm just throwing my ideas out there.

I like it. There is already laws on the books. All we need is a reminder of them. And of course people to observe the existing law.

Exactly right. You can search for my username and pull up what i posted the other day, I included two links to the Administrative code & another one that  shows that it's all covered legally. Includes all the verbage  anyone interested can read and take from it what you will. Just got back in from a idling cruise and if all this debris is still around next weekend someones going to get hurt. We'll see how it goes.

Yep. I got my Seadoo back this weekend after being broke 2 years. No way I was gonna try it in that mess. Spent the afternoon shoveling mud off the upper pier and hosing everything off. Spent all of last week pressure washing and re staining. Probably have to do the pier again.
