Have a propane smoke and I hate it, temp is not regulated and meat is more dried out than moist and juicy.  Wonder how much I can get for it at the scrap yard :)

I have to vote for the Masterbuilt. Right now on my deck are three electrics, one unused for a backup, and one propane. I agree with you that the propane is just a waste of space. The electrics are great to keep food moist and give a great smokey flavor and for regulating time and temp. Right now there are 8 large butts on the oldest one. That makes over 200 pounds on it this year. At one time I was not a big fan of Masterbuilt but they came through on customer service and like I said I now have three. Mack just bought one this year. See what his opinion is. I think there is an old thread discussing this topic too.

Mav,
I have had a Smokin' Tex electric for several years, and it has produced many good meals. Butts, ribs, brisket, chickens, turkeys - doesn't matter, they all turn out great. I like the fact that you can load it up with meat and a little chunk of smoking wood and forget about it.
Regards,
Wes

Yep, I now use the 40" Masterbuilt electric, but I waited until Cotton resolved his Customer Service issue with them.  I used propane for 2 years and it never really satisfied. The shoulder on the Fourth had that meteorite shell outside and moist, tender and smoky inside. 10hours basically untended for a 9 pound Picnic.

Well, you know what Larry and I think....if Cat puts in his 2 cents, don't listen.
