It was a rainy afternoon; the preacher was driving home from his church when he got behind a slow moving car. The car was crossing the center line of the road  then into the ditch only to recover and dart into the other ditch. The preacher not wanting to accuse the man of drinking mumbled to himself: "that man must be ill."
But the drunk's driving became progressively worst.
Then the preacher mumbled: "He must be drunk"
Then the drunks started driving slower and slower; the preacher decide to pass the  drunk. Suddenly the preacher's cars slides out of control and lands upside down in the ditch.
As the preacher claws out of the car's window, he sees that the drunk had stopped to help.
Drunk:" Are you OK? "
Preacher: "Yes! The Lord is riding with me"
Drunk: "Well, ya better let-uuum ride with me, the way you drive....Belch.... you may kill him."

Wow, that is a great oldie...I first heard it maybe 50 years ago on a "Brother Dave Gardner" album.  Do any of you remember him in the 50's and early 60's when he was traveling the southern college and night club circuit?  He often appeared at the old Domino Lounge in Atlanta?

Absolutely!  I am old enough to to remember Brother Dave... he was funny and didn't need to use the F word or do fart jokes to be funny.
Do you remember Andy Griffin story about the football game or Romeo and Juliet? Now that was funny.

Yes absolutely, I also remember Andy Griffith's trip to "Nausea" in the Bahamas when he got seasick but felt better when he saw a floating sign reading  "Stuckeys, 12 miles"!  It was a different world then...not necessarily better but mostly friendlier.

I remember Brother Dave and the little green Martians landed on earth looking for little green women. He was very funny and clean doing it as was Andy. Times were much simpler back then and arguable better.
