Channel 5 just reported that Lavon will be releasing water (since it's a few inches over "full").  Isn't this premature?  Isn't the level 11 feet over 492 when water is required to be released?  If so, why is it being released?  What is the official level when water is released?

My understanding is that anything above 492 is for flood control up to 503. Whenever the level is over full pool, once it is deemed safe, they release till the level is returned to full pool.

Tascman:  And the wisdom of the approach you stated shows, now that all the reserve between Full Pool and Flood Pool is used up.  It is interesting to note that Ray Hubbard has been able to keep that level within a half-foot of Full Pool, enabling them to absorb Lavon opening its gates to the max (which I presume must be happening).  I just wonder what happens in the next couple of days when the Lavon watershed area, already saturated, gets some more downpour.  I expect (and pray) that by now the highway department has plans to close off any roadways in danger of flash flooding from a dam overflow before it actually happens.

Wups, just checked again and there is a 15:00 update that shows the level down a whopping 0.01 ft.  Makes the posted level a cozy 0.08 ft. below flood.  That equals about an inch.  So looks like the updates are back active, but the residual in the watershed area is draining in about as fast a Lavon can pass it on to Ray Hubbard.  Next few days will be interesting.  I hope we will not have another Wimberley here, though.
