I hope everyone had a great weekend on Beautiful Lake Martin. I know we did even without the help of:

1. The boat that cut in front of me at the Marina after I patiently waited 15 minutes for another boat in front of me at the dock who decided after buying gas to then unload the passengers who decided to go shopping

2. The next door neighbor who blasted their stereo until 1:00 in the morning ( my wife thought it would be unneighborly to call and ask them to lower the volume).

3. The boater who drove by our floating dock at maximum wake and waved while my son in law and I stood on it puttin gas in the PWC.

Thank goodness I am mellowing in my old age.

Just saying!

S

The Alexander City paper said that an estimated 15,000 noats, etc. were on the lake this weekend. At least half of them were on Blue Creek and half of those were idiots. We had a wake boat come within 20' of our pier and the board rider fell within 5' of the pier. The waves they create are unbelieveable. Another decided to use our pier as a launching site for their skiers.  A few words assured them this was not acceptable.

I enjoy seeing people having fun but would appreciate them respecting the property of otherrs and keep their boats out where they belong.

On the music, one group decided to camp out on the point close to us and their selection and volume of music was not appealing.

Sure was quiet this morning

Jester, I have done my share of bitchin' here about bad manners by boaters/neighbors who misbehave,, and different ways to correct their actions in the future.

I do not bitch any more. These conflicts seem to be common on holiday weeks when boat traffic is heavy and lots of folks are at the lake. Behavior like this is now considered "normal" I guess. When a young girl "flips" me off after she cuts me off on the highway, or a teen screams at me for my requiring a life jacket. Or a boat with super speakers is blasting "RastaRapKnuckles" at max volume.

Ignore it as best you can for a few days. They will go back to their normal life soon, then we can get back to normal, here on Lake Martin.

My post was not to complain just state how things are. We have been on the lake (weekends) for over 20 years and I used to let it upset me. In fact we moved from our first house (inside Stillwaters) because of the crowds, noise and renters that used our dock and parking like their own. Now I just accept it on Holiday weekends as part of the norm.
