I was on the lake near the Ridge just after dark Sunday night when we saw some unusual lights in the sky. The lights had kind of an orange color to them and were fairly bright and about the size of a medium star. They would come up over the horizon mainly from the southeast sky, would continually rise into the sky until they were well overhead, and would then gradually disappear. The only ideas that any of us on board could come up with was that someone was sending up some sort of lighted baloons that were being carried into the sky by the wind. They were actually coming up from more than one location so whatever they were had to be launched from more than ne source. The sighting was very strange and gave all of us on the boat something to see for several minutes. Hope to hear from someone who witnessed the same sightings we did.

I don't think it was satelites. Toward the end there were four or five that came up over the tree line at about the same time from pretty much the same location. Hopefully there are others who may have some other explanations.

Could it have been large Chinese fire lanterns?  I know they are popular at weddings now.  There was a wedding at Willow Point on Sunday, but not sure what time.

They were paper lanterns launched by my neighbor.  Really cool to watch.  Left Turner Rd/Larkwood area and went over trees and off towards Curry Point.

Thanks for the info. My grandson got on the internet and looked up hot air baloons, so we had pretty much assumed the sightings had to be something of that nature.
