Just wondering if anyone had tried the remodeled restaurant called "G's Country Kitchen" (in the Mama Ella's location) and is the Mandolin Cafe closed?  We need some eating places!!!!

I hear it is good. Right around the corner is The Station. They have good fish sandwiches and I hear the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich is the best. It's on 63. Just past the abandoned car wash and gas station ...

Have tried G's Country Kitchen.  The fried chicken is outstanding.  The people are very nice and very hospitable.  I don't know why it isn't more crowded.

It appears to me that Mandolin Cafe is out of business.  Truthfully, the food was awful.  There must be something about that building.  Nothing seems to be able to stay in business there.

Have you tried Jakes in down town Alex City?  Or tried the lunch at the Wine Emporium?

If you want fried chicken there is no better in the world than Panne George in Auburn...not to mention the collards, okra..squash casserole...well I could go on. It's in the clock tower center at I-85 and S College.

Concerning the site of the apparently out of business Mandolin Cafe.  Originally a Jack's hamburger joint.  Some other notable (good food) occupants were Tyler's (really good breakfast) and Ella's (really good lunch menu including fried chicken livers and sometimes chitterlings aka chittlin's).  Nothing else of note comes to mind.  Possibly an old Indian burial site.

I probably should have said Native American burial site.  I'm trying to be more mainstream in my latter years.
