Can you be more specific?  Are you talking about Mullican Loop?

LL, if you can give me an accurate location, I'll do some bacteria testing, including for E.coli.

Thanks, Dick Bronson/Lake Watch

The spot in question is on Mullican Loop almost at the 49 intersection. I went up there in my pontoon boat and saw 3 RV trailers that were very well kept up, flower planters, a nice beach area, and water toys. Would love to see the test both upstream and downstream of RV park. If the brown bubbles are more than "lake digestion" I would think the recent heavy downpours and substandard sewage sediment ponds in Camp Hill may be our problem. Testing would sure put us at ease or give us some basis to fixing this problem. Mike D

My guess is an absence of septic tanks in the area.  Or could be the Dadeville plant acting up again.  If it's Camp Hill, they are already under order by the State to fix their problem...and can't because of lack of necessary funds.

Will check it out soon.

The exact location is at the junction of Buck Creek and Sandy Creek as I stated in an earlier post.  This is on Mullican Road and not Mullican Loop.  When RV's were first moved to the parcel of land several years ago, there was a concrete container placed below ground.  I assumed it may have been a holding tank of sorts.  I don't think that there is space for a septic system and the associated field lines. It appears from drive-bys that power and water have been run to this site.  Everything here may be in order and no need for concern, but I wonder if health department has given any sort of approval.

Appreciate you clarifying the correct RV park.

"The exact location is at the junction of Buck Creek and Sandy Creek as I stated in an earlier post.  This is on Mullican Road and not Mullican Loop." Not far once you turn off of hwy 49 on to Mullican Rd., you won't have any problem seeing it!

Sorry I could not get back to you until now. However, it appears others have done an excellent job of directing you to the spot. Someone please keep us all in the loop as to what is determined about this area.

Thanks To All!

I had that very conversation with a neighbor yesterday.  Going up Sandy from the lake looks a whole lot like Deliverence Country.  If you haven't been, you owe it to yourself to go see some real "culture".  Watch out for the boulders.

To the adventurous ones who might make this trip, do it while the water is still up, and go all the way to the Sandy Creek bridge on Highway 49 south.  You will go past the subject of this thread and in addition see some other interesting sights.  The banjo music you may hear on this journey will most likely not change.  Stay alert.

LL, I will be testing for E.coli above & below suspect trailers near the 49 bridge sometime this week.  It will take a couple of days in the incubator before results are known.  If there are "hits", I'll huddle with other Lake Watch members and ADEM to plan further testing. I'll keep the Forum advised.

Thanks for the input, including that from AU67 & OSMS.  Dammit, did you have to mention "Deliverance."

I call it the Redneck Riviera.

Don't even try to get a prop boat in there.

Don't even try to get a water scooter in there at 3 ft or more under full pool.

You can go until you see the dam.

After a serious rain you can go upstream 8 mph but stay still with the bank.

You can go way up Buck creek as well.

rv's can hold only so much waste in their tanks which then have to be emptied into a leagal dump station or illeagally. if on the ground smell would be notice, into water does not smell but will show as scum layers. its not from camphill, too far away and water has been arerated by all the rapids before joining buck creek. those trailers have been there so long they would have to dump numerous times by now. no one has seen them pulled out so it is obvious where the waste is going.

This is some serious CRAP....how is it that Pleasure Point gets axed and no one is monitoring around those trailers.  I've never gone by there and not seen those trailers.  Never seen a pump-out truck there either.  Health Department should be all over this like "fllies"
