The owners at Harbor Docks do not care about their customers. This was even more evident this evening after repeat visits. Tonight will be our last night eating at this establishment. We have had extremely poor service on multiple occasions...waiting a couple of hours for our food and then half our party's food was missing. On another occasion we asked for crackers and ranch and was told we couldn't have anymore. The waitress told us if she brought us anymore the cost of such items would be taken out of her check! (We offered to pay). One night our meal was over $300! Owner said, "You can't bring that up to me we have customers that come every weekend." REALLY?!?! We have been loyal customers who have tried to support this restaurant, even during their breakfast trying time. We went there one morning and wanted pancakes, and lol, NO syrup! This place can kiss our wake! Make sure all your party is present as well! No wait at all and majority of our party was trying to park their boat and we were harassed by owner & employees about our party not being ALL present. It's a shame because food when served right and timely is excellent as well as most of their waitresses.

The only thing inappropriate is the the owners of Harbor Docks! The staff and food are first class, dealing with the front of house management well there is your problem.

Agree.  I have been a dedicated supported of Harbor Docks for several years.  Went there with a boat load of family  4th of July weekend and after waiting for over an hour and after having to deal with all the attitudes exhibed by waitress and bartender I hate to say but i will not be back.  Is the worst customer service i have ever experienced.

My Name is Jennie and I am the one you spoke to about your table. I knew you were going to post something crazy on here. Let me just inform everyone of the situation. This gentelman comes in and tells my hostess that he wants a table for 10 and that while only 4 of them are here he wants to still put the tables together because the rest are on the boat parking. This was untrue and I went to ask him where his party was, He asked me when did we make the rule that all of your party must be present because that is new. I told him its been like this for 2 years and the sign at the front doors says this. The reason we do it is to be fair to all of our customers and we are able to seat the people that are here and waiting for a table vrs the ones that are not here yet and tables are not being saved for long periods of time when we have people that are standing and all present wanting a table. He then told me that he has been here several times and spent over $300 each visit so its a shame he will have to go somewhere else because of this rule. I told him Im sorry he felt that way but we have several customers that come every weekend and spend well over $3oo and they go by the same policies. It would not be fair if he were standing at the front door wanting a table and everyone was here but I couldnt seat them because people were saving tables. He did not want to hear anything I had to say and was insistant that he would not be back because of this. He was telling me that he should not have to go by the same rules as everyone else because he spends $300 when he eats here. I finally told him again Im sorry he feels that way and I walked away. He nor anyone at his table complained about any of the food as they drank the entire time they were here tonight. They waited only 30 mins for their food when we were on an hour to an hour and a half wait at the front door because we were busy as it is Saturday night. I try my best to take care of all the customers in the same way here and everyone should be treated the same regardless of how much money they have.

I have never been to the restaurant. 

When you ask a restaurant for a table, your party should be ready to sit. If I were waiting for a table for 2 and you barged in yelling "I am important. I spent $300 last time. I want a table NOW." I would would say Bull $*!+ get in line stud. You must have an real issue that you need to yell I am like Trump...I am important. You hear me? I spent $300.

Next time, get in line like the rest of us and slow down. Not healthy to get that keyed up over a damn table in a restaurant. If you have kids, don't teach them to be so arrongant.

Shay, I really like your response to this thread.  Kinda makes me want to drive 50 miles to eat at your restaraunt!  It's hard for some to "truely understand" that it is extremely important for business', especially small business to have policy and proceedure practices on a daily basis.  Being steady with them with subtle adjustments.  Flying by the seat of your pants in business is NOT an option.  Maybe if "Anchordown" would have waited a day or so to cool down, he could have offered his opinion in a different light!  And, possibly a quiter tone.  By the post, it appears that he/she likes your restaraunt, food and staff but wants to give you a little nudge in turn 4 at Talladega.   Both of yall lighten up.  See ya soon so keep the griddle hot.

We have become good friends with Chris and Jennie over the years through the restaurant yet we too find ourselves waiting in line and following the same rules as everybody else.  No special treatment or moving to the front of the line. 

Having once worked in a restaurant myself, I know this is one of the toughest businesses to own, run and be successful.  Apparently they are doing things right because to me it appears they have a great following.  I am also aware that you can't please everyone 100% of the time although knowing Jennie and Chris they try very hard to do this.  Nobody is perfect and the threads on this forum from Harbor Docks are very responsive and have shown to me they always try to make things right if they have been at fault.  My suggestion to Anchor Down is to chill out, try again, maybe have a cocktail or two and for goodness sake don't miss out on the best place on the lake!  You are just punishing yourself!

I have quit going to a couple of my favorite restaurants in the Hoover area because of one or two people getting there early and start pulling tables together 20 to 30 minutes before the whole party gets there.  It's just plain rude.

Stick to your policies Jennie. This guy is in for a lot of disappointment if he eats around the lake very much. If the food is good he'll be back. (If you want him back)

I go every visit to the lake. Food is always good to very good. Prices are very reasonable. Service is generally timely and friendly wait service.

 

I tend to think in most cases, you get the kind of service you deserve. Restaurants on the Lake are far too few as is. Using a public forum to have a personal rant is, to me, inappropriate. If I were you, I would just never return. My guess is you will be happier and so will the restaurant.

I will continue to go to Harbor Docks, enjoy the food and service and praise them on this forum when I feel like it. If I have a bad experience, I will talk to the owner personally. Obviously, you are free to choose to do it your way as well.

  You go girl! We visted your establishment a few weeks ago and can not say enough about how good it was!  We really enjoyed it!

  I have been associated with this lake 50 yrs and actually lived on Lake Martin full time many of those years. I no longer live there because so many of the weekenders and some full timers have such a attitude that made it no longer a pleasant place to live. ( rude ,loud,nasty,uncaring and arrogant)  I have witnessed so many that have the i want it now attitude when they vist our local bussinesses.  The arrogance of weekenders is sickening to us old timers. If they would just slow down and relax they would enjoy this lake so much more!!

  we loved Harbor Docks and will be back!!
