The water in our slogh started to get a little cloudy several weeks ago. I do not remember this from the past 20 years at this time of year. I also see some agressive algae growth around the edges. We are on Parker Creek, and NO, it is not downstream from the Landing. Just curious about why??

I have noticed the same thing this summer. I've had a place on the Parker Creek end of the lake for 50 years and can't recall the algae growth being like this. And, I've made the same comment about the water not being as clear as it used to be. Something seems out of balance in water. Sorry I don't have insight as to what might be causing it but the reason, what ever it is, can't be good.

I wonder if something has increased the nutrients in your slough, like run off of fertilizers from yards or farms..... or leaky old septic tank field lines leaching into the lake.   Is there a creek feeding fresh water into your slough?

A boat pulled up to our dock on Tuesday with Alabama Power guys on it looking at the water.  Our neighbor had called them about some sludge on the top of the water, she got a sample of it and left it on her deck which they picked up.  We had not noticed any sludge, it seems like the water isn't as clear as it usually is.  They said they would get back to her once it was analysed.

 For whatever reason, the water has become crystal clear and beautiful again.
