I almost took out a couple on Coosa County 20 today...not really but the cyclists, walkers, and joggers were a-plenty today

Yes!  There are several.  I am here frequently in Parker Creek area (CR24 of 259).  I'm sure MrHoj was just joking, since that was probably me on 20 today.

Hey onthe bike . I am getting back into it after a long ( very long ) hiatus . I bought a slightly used Cannondale and discovered that the front deraileur does not work  . I watched some youtube instructions but can't get it right . I am south of Dadeville in the southwestern Sandy creek area . Can you recommend a shop or someone that can help me with this ?

When I was in my late 20's I rode my touring bike from Carrollton ga to our lake house here one day and then rode all the way around the lake a couple of days later and back to Carrollton a couple of days after that . But , that was then and now I am basically a newbie with a lot to learn .

Oh and hoja . I hope you will share the road and recognize that cyclists have the right to use the road also . That means that they don't have to get out of the roadway because a car is approachjng from behind and that if you can not pass safely you have to slow down and wait until you can as you would with any slower moving vehicle . O.k.?

Maybe I needed to be more explicit...didn't come anywhere near them.  Have spent many a mile on a bicycle myself.

I know MrHodja was kidding…. Im pretty sure he is over here in my hood. I have been cycling around the lake for 10 years and have NEVER encountered anyone that wasn’t overly polite about letting pursue my hobby. I typically ride west of Equality and Seaman, north of Wetumpka, south of Coosa CR14. Mostly great roads – some with fresh asphalt. The locals are great!!! They have been known to pull up next to me and instead of yelling or throwing something they might say “where ya headin?” or “have a nice day!” – very pleasant.

Bike shops.... I wish I could help, but I don’t every mess with the mechanics on my bike. Bob’s Bikes in Homewood (Bham) does all that for me. There are two shops on Auburn: Bike Shop and James Bros Bikes. Never used them, but just about any bike shop mechanic should be able to fix that. And in Montgomery: Bell Road Cycle and Montgomery Multi Sport.

thanks onthebike . I'll get it worked out . Looks like Auburn is going to be the closest shop to me .  I need to start acquiring acessories they would have anyway .

Only one cyclist on LMF . Come to think of it I never see any on the roads around here so I guess they are fairly rare in the area .

Yes, my teammates come up to the lake a couple time a year for hill training.  We ride a 12 mile/900ft  route in Trillium, there are two or three Strava segments on that route.  Sometimes we venture out on a short leg of 63, south to a road near hwy 9 where we go left and ride back roads south of Eclectic for about 45 miles roundtrip.  The long route makes for a very nice ride, but watch for the unharnessed country dogs, a large Pit Bull took down one of our riders before the owner showed up to control the dog.  A few stitches and everything was fine.  We are Team Bovine Paceline and always welcome other riders,
