This morning while fishing I saw an eagle sized solid white bird . It did not not let me get very close and by the time I got my binocs out , it was gone . I have been an outdoorsman for a long time and this was  a rare sighting for me . Has anyone else seen this guy or know what it might be ? I know eagles ( bald and golden)  , hawks of a variety of species , ospreys , kites , et.al. . Yes it was large , hawk or osprey sized and white as snow all over  . Any body ?

No. I know that one too. It had the shape and appearance of an eagle or large hawk only solid white . I have spent alot of time in the salt marshes of Brevard county Fl and know a lot of the bird life there by site . It also lit in the tops of the biggest trees the way an eagle or hawk will . It is unusal that I see a bird I don't know . That is why I am posting to see if anyone else has seen it .

That's really interesting.  My first thought was heron or crane, but those certainly are not eagle size.  Maybe some kind of migrating bird?

We have  great blue herons and green herons . No cranes . I am thnking some kind of albino ,freak o' nature . No wait , that's my second cousin on my ex-wifes' side of the family . Any way this feathered  anomally was last seen headed towards Manoi Creek area .

it is easy to spot from a long way off because of the white color and large size

That was a joke ,or ,  I guess I should say a feeble attempt  at a little humor . A lot of Lake Martin community members could use a little lightening up IMHO . But , I did a little research and found a picture of an all white eagle taken in Washintgon state so it is possible .  I will continue to try to be observant and appreciative of the natural world around me because that is just he way I roll . Try it ,you might like it .

We live in Many and have seen this bird. Didn't seem as big as an eagle but saw it from a distance so hard to tell. Definitely a distinct animal.

Let me know if you get a close enough look to identify it .

It might be an osprey, I've seen a pair in the Madwin Creek area several years ago.  Looks like an eagle but feathers cover legs and feet.

At this time of year there are a few whooping cranes that migrate thru here. I saw 4 a couple of years ago

More than likely sandhill cranes coming out of florida headed for Tn. Have you ever heard them  and then spotted them a few thousand feet up flying in formation and squawking ? I always get a kick out of that for some reason .

Sandhills are not white, whooping cranes are white. All cranes are migrating south this time of year
